What is the K53 driving test?
K53 is the term for the current driver licence test.
The number given to the test was based on proposals submitted in the 1980's and then the reworked versions were upgraded numerically.
Test number K53 was finally accepted as the way to test aspirant drivers.
This test fully involved / included / incorporated the System of Vehicle control.
The K53 test is, in fact, a copy of what was done in the UK in the 1980's, There are three parts to the test. A pretrip inspection, a parking test and a road test.

Is K53 senseless?

SEARCH IDENTIFY PREDICT DECIDE ACTION

Not at all, There is a very good reason why the South African drivers license is accepted in most countries. The K53 Defensive driving method prioritizes defensive driving skills, teaching learner drivers spot and predict actions of potential hazards, anticipate dangers, and maintain a safe following distance from other vehicles. It aims to break drivers' tunnel vision by encouraging them to constantly scan their surroundings using certain observations, including checking left and right, to ensure they are aware of their environment. These "observations" are not arbitrary but essential for defensive driving, aiding learner drivers to develop the habit of being aware of their surroundings. Misconceptions about the system often stem from a lack of understanding of its purpose.
